Never carry your White Balance Card again. This new device is called the BRNO baLens White Balance Lens Cap. It replaces
your regular cap so you always have with you. It promises to achieve colour correction superior to that produced by your camera's auto white balance setting.
How does it work?
Step 1 With the cap mounted set your camera to AE Auto Exposure. Set the camera to manual focus.
Step 2
Point the camera at the light source and take a shot. Select this exposure as your white balance reference
shot. For best results point the dome at the light source as you would with any incident light meter. In
mixed lighting select the light source prefered for dominant color influence. If tungsten vs window light is
prefered, point the dome towards the tugsten source. To achieve an average balance in mixed lighting conditions take your reading in-between light sources.
Step 3 Need to use studio flash?
Point the dome at the flash and fire as in step 2. Save the reference shot. For on camera flash the baLens is not required.
The baLens White Balance Lens Cap comes with interchangeable neutral and warm domes. The warm
dome gives a color shift roughly equal to that of an 81b filter. At the back of the cap simply unscrew the retaining ring and slip the new dome into place.
The cap uses a center pinch-release mechanism for easy attachment with lens hood in place. It's streamlined design helps to prevent the cap from accidenatlly being knocked off.
